People ask me, after seventy some years, how I never tire of hunting game birds and running bird dogs. I can't tell you everything, but my books cover a lot of it. Ever since my youth, I've been involved in some way with upland game birds, be it studying their habits and habitat, breeding and training bird dogs, hunting the different species or writing and photographing my experiences in the fields, prairies, foothills, forest and mountains of North America.

I've spent endless hours on the leading edge specializing in developing gun dogs and new hunting tactics for wild games birds. And by learning each game bird's habits and habitat, which is the glue, that binds the fabric together in finding the quarry and making the whole experience worthwhile.

After logging decades in the field with pointing dogs, hot barrels and empty casings, it occurred to me this knowledge and these adventures be recorder and shared. I did my homework long before I picked up pen and camera. My priority as an outdoor writer and author is to gather these findings of how and where to hunt wild game birds. And yes; it is still out there for anyone to go and that's what my books are all about.

Good Hunting,
